What you hate's gonna help you the most I'm not living anymore with a shadowy ghost Today I gotta to find some little extra grit and give myself some leg room in case I want to quit I want to fly to you at light speed and give you everything you need You can say whatever you like and I'll move on with my shattered life It’s not `bout chewing the chain Today’s about surviving the rain Tomorrow I will finally hear the choir and I'll always have you to admire I'm stepping in my resale coat I see the castle but I'm stuck in the moat Look at everything we built You can pretend to be true but you can't fake the guilt I'm walking away so blue You're Walking Away Blue Too Fight or Flight, We ran last night But the road was never meant for us anyway `round here it’s just torn-down bridges, unfound riches and gas-burned ditches It’s middle finger flown towards your friends There’s nothing left here to exploit way up in heaven or here in Detroit My pride's too hurt to fake a cough Your wings are clipped so you can't take off I'm battery acid high minted in pure chrome I like living in the ashes of Rome I just need to find the body to exhume My fading armor is now just a bad costume I wanna gladly kiss you one last time But I wouldn’t give Robin Hood a spare dime I'm unraveling from this take and give And I don't have the free will to be held captive

Jane's Gone 04:31
Janey was the perfect girl next store and I can still picture her walking through out her screen door But a storm rolled in and stole her away Something she feared surely sealed her fate Our flower girl that we loved is gone Through the fire, and the bosk, and the frost It's so clear, man, how could we forget? Janey loved everyone she ever met I know Janey’s folks they prayed real hard and All the town was out looking for her car we heard she got into a Chevy that day but the cops said she's only “runaway” Rising up.. Then we cry Falling down is such a crime There's no recovering from any of this pain Who would snuff out her sacred flame? Seems like such a shame Why do some of us just blow in the wind? And then they to blame us for their same old sins How could a candle get snuffed out so quick? And why do some of us get the short end of the stick? Nothing’s sacred for us every day When a friend of yours can just melt into the purple haze Everything changed, and nothing stays the same `cause we can’t take away that summer day

Pieces 05:03
In my dream I was a shivering blue snake I only lived where rock lines quake And now am resting forever near an ancient lake In the distance the owl spoke to me but he didn't dare leave his mangled tree I ran to the rabbi and asked “Will you pray for me?” Then you rose up with your scorpion's knife and saved me when you shone your light I’m born again `cause you saved my life In my dream I wanted more I tasted the white dust on the desert floor I gorged myself but then I lost everything Our story would end at dawn We'd circle the blue sky in an arc and were gone We’d head into the wind and turn away from the sun I crawled to you on my knees and fell to pieces I gave up and finally found peace We want to be strong like bears But in the end our teeth only tear We want to stand up tall But crawl away when the shadows fall You used to fly So high in the sky One million miles high But you wanted more So I knocked down your door Shattered like a glass on your floor In my dream I was a shivering blue snake I only lived where rock lines quake And now am resting forever near an ancient lake

Teen zeen… Clean jeans Cars, bars and broken hearts Fine line..thrill pill Grow, know and fall apart You grew...away today Glossed frost on our frozen parts I lie stoned alone My dream’s theme is so real We don’t know a soul But if we stay here We could drink beer I barely know the host but his 1st wife painted this still life Smart heart So old Stripe whipped and getting burned twice Away today... Prick sick Greave and leave with a fresh start Around, around, around, Here we go again A round, around Here we go

Happy Pills 03:51
Let’s just say… I'm a real simple dude I wear my heart on my sleeve… I’m no fool I swallow happy pills to fight the blues So sad to say… I’ve seen you swallow your share too I guess what it is I'm struggling to say is: “In the end you gotta pay” So don’t believe a word they say Even if I have to spend my last dime I’ll swallow happy pills all the time I’m just waiting at the back of the line My best friend tripped on the tracks The rest of us want fable not fact Our flowers bloom and the Spring comes slow While blue hearts paint the Michigan snow A toast to all our crazy foes… A toast to all our highs and lows… and everything in between… Get shared but is never seen…

This is your only life! You better grab what you can get You're always sleeping next to me with more than a little regret We’ve been cooked like a steaks not even given time to breathe We've been butchered like a lambs In our hour of peril and need We jumped out our windows when we saw the stains of our broken tears We took a good lashing drowning away in a puddle of our lonely fears Like shadows we melted away and fought our war-torn bloody crusade That’s how barely escaped when we fled that bullet-torn cavalcade They patched us up with rusty parts when they broke up our hearts Yes our souls can drift away… but we will never be apart Our tenuous connection was always a single thread Now we’re sitting at that table and we feel so underfed The logs in the fire are charred down to ash We searched everywhere but we never found your weapons cache If we survive the crush the healing will break our stubborn wills We tried to roll the heaviest rocks But stumble when we hit a bump in the hill Now our lives are just broken parts our pride became our biggest foes In the end we were just painted faces Steering nasty habits down Thunder Road

Seventeen… too young to know much better so you drop your crosses and step over your fallen sisters Grasp your flames And keep the embers deep in your pocket Own your dreams and fill his casket with your flowers Stand alone… but don't ever leave out through the back door The Truth What would it do? It’s the ghost inside you You're so blue… So blue Back then our love was easy What’s gone is never free That’s what it's like livin’ with a ghost We took the time to look back now What’s promised is always a vow That’s what it's like livin’ with a ghost So I return to her blue shrine every Autumn and pass my memories besieged with her forsaken sorrows and on days when it does get dark sometimes the clouds will drift apart nails claw through the canvas rain painted with cigarettes stains She stands alone… but never leaves through the screen door The Truth What would it do? It’s the ghost inside you You're so blue… So blue
8.
You said tomorrow’s gonna be gold but we disagree I think we’ve all prayed enough to Turn our backs on the saints we can see The “bright lights” of our leader’s sins Dredge up the monsters within We’re seen enough to understand that we’ll never be free We’re only here to spit up our precious blood on your dirty sleeves So now we plan to bust up your life and rub your wounds with salt Any chance you could put down your idiotic thoughts and just act like a normal adult? Someday we'll grow up and become ugly bigots too And we’re thinking we’ll do the same things to them that we got from you Up to the ceiling, down to the ground Backwards and forwards, round and round; It’s past high time that you left town Here’s we go again The treadmill comes around We cover our ears and don’t hear a sound What we’re all losing Can never be found
9.
Dying at these crossroads… it’s hard to think straight and I fear we’re pulling up the stakes of this senseless circus too late You got a red cape and I got a dark dusty cowl But it’s so hard to live in this town When you don’t want me around 1000 times a night I wanna get up and leave and I see you grasping at my white walls to believe You know I’ll wait for you Is it worth waiting for me? How much shit can we go through? and can we find a reason to believe? Darlington City’s only 100 miles away and tomorrow’s not just another day Your dad says he doesn’t want you to go But these rusty wheels just got to know and I just can’t bare to hear you say “no” Is it worth waiting for me? How much shit can we go through? and can we find a reason to believe?
10.
This broken saddle holds a hippie burnout mercenary ready to disappear one last time into the dusty prairie I just met a biker chick who smells like opium I wanna be her friendly giant who says "Fe-Fi-Fo-Fum" But she wouldn't put her fingers on my teeny-weeney wick even after I cried out "I'll be your favorite lunatic!" How many lies does it take? And how many will put their lives at stake? And when will we ever wake? I’m starting to see that we’re all a flock o` fakes My sickness… I tried to tell ya,”hey, it’s only temporary” But y’all will get no apologies on rose-scented stationery But no worries… that angel's checking now for my obituary Looking for preacher's son who's lost his faith in The Virgin Mary I’m just an average dude who used to be just like you I’ll take any cure that’ll help all of us all get through
